Elk's Meadow
Details:
Formerly called High Country Chalet, this idyllic cabin is nestled in the picturesque and highly desirable Crockett's Meadow in the high country of North Carolina—only two miles from the Cataloochee Ski Area and six miles from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park—and features stunning mountain views. Crockett's Meadow is a serene neighborhood, and the surrounding cabins, each with their own unique charm, accent the view.
The cabin has three bedrooms: two with plush king-sized beds, and one with a queen and a twin day bed, all wrapped in high-quality linens, and plenty of space to stow away your luggage. The main bedroom also features an exposed wood ceiling, an electric fireplace for added ambiance, and direct access to a full bathroom. The other two bedrooms are upstairs and share a sizable second bathroom with a tub-shower combo (towels are provided).
Each bedroom has its own TV. (In total, there are four TVs in the home—two with Roku and two with cable boxes.) Stay connected with reliable high-speed Wifi throughout the entire house. We provide a "starter kit" of toilet paper and paper towels. There is plenty of parking in front of the home and easy paved access to the entrance. Board games, a PlayStation 4, and a pack-n-play are also available. You'll also have access to a washer and dryer, which is incredibly convenient for extended stays.
This is the perfect amenity-filled home base for adventurous couples, outdoorsy families, or even those who prefer a lavish and slower-paced vacation. Use it as a jumping-off point to ski, mountain bike, hike, tour wineries/breweries, or shop; there are a number of activities nearby. Maggie Valley was recently featured on the hit TV show Moonshiners, and there are many popular festivals held in the charming and historic downtown area and in nearby Waynesville. Keep reading for more specific information about the surrounding attractions.
The true star of the cabin is the wraparound deck, where you'll want to spend many hours taking in the views, have your coffee there as you watch the elk stroll through the neighborhood as they often do. There's a gas grill and dining set on the deck, so you can truly take advantage of the location.
Inside, the cabin has a wide-open floor plan with plenty of space for a large family to reconnect and relax. It has been designed with your ultimate comfort in mind. The cabin's many windows allow natural light to flood the space. The hardwood floors and exposed wood ceiling contribute to the elevated rustic atmosphere. The living room is anchored by a large functioning gas fireplace; you'll want to sink into the cozy sectional next to a crackling fire with a glass of wine while your family catches up on a favorite show on the smart TV. The dining room is adjacent, with seating for six or more.
In the kitchen, you'll find endless counter space and everything you need to whip up multi-course meals, including cookware, oils, and spices. There's also a stocked coffee station with both a Keurig and a regular coffee maker. The kitchen is separated from the living and dining rooms only by a large peninsula where others can sit and carry on a conversation with the chefs and sous chefs of your group.
