Hurricane Helene Update - October 22, 2024:
🍁🙌Maggie Valley and Waynesville are Open and Thriving 🙌🍁 We’re excited to update you on the wonderful progress happening in Maggie Valley and Waynesville since Hurricane Helene hit over two weeks ago. We’re officially back and open for business, and we’d love for you to come visit! With the fall season in full swing, the leaves are starting to turn, and the vibrant colors are only going to get better in the coming weeks! Fortunately, our area was spared the worst of the storm, unlike some of our neighbors to the east—Asheville, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, and Swannanoa—who faced much greater challenges. Our hearts go out to them as they work toward recovery. Here in Maggie Valley and Waynesville, power and cell service were restored within the first week, and we’re happy to report that none of the homes we checked sustained significant damage. While we had some guest cancellations in October—our busiest month—much of that was due to the misconception that we were as affected as the areas farther east. We’re pleased to say that this wasn’t the case! It’s important to remember that our local businesses rely on tourism, and now more than ever, they need your support. So don’t hesitate—come enjoy all that our area has to offer. We’re ready to welcome you with open arms! What’s been truly inspiring over these past few weeks is the incredible sense of community here in Western NC. From churches distributing supplies to neighbors lending a hand, and thousands of volunteers offering their time, the kindness and resilience of our community have shone through.
